In 2009, after a decade lost to menial office tasks and then a grand epiphany, Mike began repairing and building violins. He has been at it ever since. After attending a year-long program specializing in repair and restoration, in Red Wing, MN, Mike worked for The Applebaum Violin Shop. He then started his own violin business in 2017, Burns Violins. Sitting and crafting at the workbench is his favorite place, though he can also be found noodling on fiddle, guitar, and bass at festivals around the Pacific Northwest.
