Andy Emert has been playing guitar and fiddle for 30 years. He has won several fiddle contests including the National Oldtime Fiddlers Contest in Weiser, Idaho, the Oregon State Fiddle Contest, and the Willamette Valley Fiddle Contest in Corvallis, Oregon. He has played in musical groups all across Oregon and recently played at a Norwegian Festival in North Dakota last Summer. He lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife, twin sons and works at David Kerr Violin Shop.
Swing & Bluegrass Fiddle, advanced
It is time to acquire some new swing tunes and Americana tunes. Yay! Andy will provide resources to help attendees learn new tunes away from class too. Having a knowledge of different keys will be important. Please bring your fiddle and bow in working condition and a good attitude. The objective will be to cover use of the bow, accompanying vocals, keys, tempo, twin fiddling, as well as to play a variety of fiddle tunes and swing tunes. There will be a chance to explore improvisation and work up to feeling confident taking a solo too!
