Wallowa Valley Music Alliance launches Classical Music Series at Odd Fellows Hall
105 NE 1st Street, Enterprise, Oregon
The Wallowa Valley Music Alliance concludes its latest new project, a mini-series of Classical Music Concerts held at the historic Enterprise Odd Fellows Hall.
The third program of the series will be on June 22 at 7:00, and will feature viola and harp, played by Portland musicians Denise Fujikawa and Brian Quincey.
Brian Quincey, viola, has been a member of the Oregon Symphony since 1997 and is a former member of the Phoenix Symphony, the Sacramento Symphony, and the San Francisco Symphony. He is a graduate of the USC School of Music where he studied with Donald McInnes. He is currently a member of the Third Angle Music Ensemble and is an active chamber musician and teacher in Portland.
A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, harpist Denise Fujikawa is an active chamber musician, soloist and teacher. She has been a member of the Portland Opera Orchestra since 1998. Ms. Fujikawa is on faculty at Portland State University in Oregon, where she was recently awarded a professional development grant. She has been lauded by The Oregonian for her “lovely harp playing”. Ms. Fujikawa was a student of Anne Adams, Principal Harp of the San Francisco Symphony and studied at the Eastman School of Music with the renowned Eileen Malone.
The final concert on June 22 at 7 p.m. will feature Portland musicians Brian Quincy, violist in the Oregon Symphony, and Denise Fujikawa, harpist in the Portland Opera Orchestra.
Project organizer Lisa Robertson was a founding board member of the Music Alliance, and has a long list of accomplishments in the classical music world, and currently serves as concertmaster of the Oregon East Symphony. “I’m excited about the Music Alliance’s expansion in support of classical music,” says Robertson. “It’s also a great chance to take advantage of all the acoustical improvements and addition of a nice piano in the Odd Fellows Hall.” Thanks to funding from the Wallowa County Cultural Trust Coalition and the Oregon Community Foundation the WVMA is happy to bring classical music back to their program roster.
All concerts will be free of charge, with donations gratefully accepted to help cover expenses.
