March 15, 2:00 p.m.
Odd Fellows Hall, Enterprise OR

What is chamber music? Chamber music is classical music written to be played without a conductor and with only one player per part. Composers through the centuries have written beautiful music for groups of different sizes for various instruments, sometimes combined with voices. In particular, string players have a huge repertoire of lovely music to challenge their skills.
Through the generosity of a grant from the Associated Chamber Music Players, Wallowa Valley Music Alliance is proud to host a weekend workshop for community players who love chamber music—or want to find out what it’s like. Players have been divided into various small ensembles to prepare their parts ahead of time and will gather March 13-15 at the Community Congregational Church, 303 NE 1st St. in Enterprise, to rehearse and receive coaching.
The workshop will conclude with a concert given by the workshop participants at the Odd Fellows Hall, 105 NE 1st St. in Enterprise. Admission to the concert is free of charge but donations are gratefully accepted.
Due to a sudden illness, Dr. James Cook will not be joining us, but we are lucky to be able to bring Sam Ross, music director of the Grande Ronde Symphony and the Oregon East Symphony Youth Orchestra, to coach.
Younger players will be coached by Dr. Lisa Robertson. Lisa holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in violin performance, did additional studies in Europe, and was a member of professional orchestras and chamber ensembles in Europe for fifteen years. Lisa has taught violin at Florida State University, the Peter-Cornelius-Conservatory of Mainz (Germany), the University of Iowa, Walla Walla University, Eastern Oregon University, the Viennese Musical Institute of KwangJu (Korea), and in the Playing for Keeps program sponsored by the Oregon East Symphony. She currently teaches privately in Enterprise where she was a founding board member of the Music Alliance.
