In 2008, founding Music Alliance director Lisa Robertson announced her resignation from the board of directors, due to relocating out of Wallowa County. Robertson, who taught violin and viola at Eastern Oregon University, was also the founder of the long-running Wallowa Lake Chamber Music Festival, which was eventually adopted by the Music Alliance. The music festival had been scaled down in its later years, and finally discontinued in 2007, but in her generosity Robertson asked that the remaining funds from the Chamber Music Festival be used by the Music Alliance to start a grant and scholarship fund for student musicians seeking financial assistance in furthering their music education. The Music Alliance board of directors voted to implement a scholarship program, designating a portion of  annual contributions received to the scholarship fund.

Wallowa Fiddle Tunes Camp Scholarships

Each year WVMA offers scholarship money to pay for half of the tuition for camp, and is pleased to announce the addition of the Charles Trump Memorial Scholarship in 2013. Charles was a well loved and admired old-time fiddler in our community, and always encouraged folks to keep old-time fiddle music alive. This special scholarship will be awarded for the full amount of camp tuition, and is chosen from among all scholarship applicants by our scholarship committee.
